Historyand revisions

A record of how 友人 has been recorded, used in music, rebuilt, documented and expanded.

The voice behind the project

The project begins from preserved vocal material connected to a person whose disappearance was never fully explained. Rather than inventing an answer, the voice is treated as something worth preserving.

Early tracks with 友人

Before the public voicebank archive was assembled, the voice was already being used in musical works. These early recordings became the first documented appearances of 友人 in actual music.

友人 — first public generation

The original Japanese CVVC voicebank enters the archive. C3, G3 and C4 recordings form the baseline, with the bank shaped through reconstruction, phoneme work, OTO preparation and post-production.

Works become part of the archive

Tracks, demonstrations and published appearances establish the original 友人 voice in actual musical use. These works are preserved alongside the voicebank instead of being treated as disposable demos.

Documentation becomes a structured archive

Character, technical, usage, media and release material are separated into maintainable records. The website is reorganised so generations can be presented independently without losing the original archive.

友人RE recording and technical work

The next generation is recorded and assembled around a substantially broader CVVC foundation. Work includes sustained vowels, glottal stops, vocal fry, breath material, additional consonants, expressive fragments and experimental extras.

eikton contributes to OTO and technical work, including optimisation of the updated reclist. Yar of AI Singers assists with private development of an enhanced base model for RE.

Website archive expansion

The project site grows from a simple voicebank page into a proper archive: separate generation pages, character material, technical references, usage guidance, music and media, downloads and revision history.

友人RE — planned public release

The second generation is scheduled to become publicly available on 05 November 2026.

How revisions work

Keep the original

The first 友人 release remains part of the archive rather than being overwritten.

Build carefully

New recordings and technical improvements are added where they make the voice more useful without flattening its character.

Preserve the works

Tracks made with each generation remain part of its history, giving the voice a record beyond technical specifications.

Document the changes

Each generation gets its own release information, examples and technical context.
