友人 is a Japanese UTAU voicebank project built around a character, a preserved voice, and the memory attached to it. The original bank remains available as its own voice and its own piece of the archive.

The original Japanese CVVC voicebank. Its warm, gentle and lived-in timbre carries both intimacy and distance, with a slightly uncanny edge. It was built from preserved fragments, reconstructed phonemes and extensive post-production.

友人 is tied to memory, disappearance, unfinished things and preservation. The project does not turn that uncertainty into a neat answer. The voice remains as a record of someone who may be somewhere else, or may no longer be here.
